Frequently Asked

Questions

We love talking dachshunds! Please do not hesitate to email or contact us through our Facebook group if you have questions.

Do you have puppies available?

Available puppies are posed in the Current Litters Section on our Puppies page and on our Facebook group, Ivy & Park Longhaired Miniature Dachshunds.

What is the price for a puppy?

Puppies range in price from $1,000 to $2,000 for limited AKC registration. Contact us for price information for specific puppies.

When are you expecting another litter?

Our next litters is tentatively planned for early summer 2024.

How does the waitlist work?

The waitlist application is used to help us find good homes for our puppies. An approved application secures you a spot on the waitlist. When a litter is born, those on the waitlist will be contacted and given the option to reserve any available puppies. Due to the variety of preferences, it is nearly impossible to tell you how many people are ahead of you on the list at any given time. Puppies not reserved by waitlist members will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Occasionally, we find it necessary to have waitlist members confirm their continued interest in a puppy through posts on our Facebook group.

There is a $35 processing fee for waitlist applications.

Are dachshunds....?

Are Dachshunds hard to house train? Yes! As with any small breed, these guys have tiny bladders. Potty training requires patience, consistency, and understanding. But, here's the good news! Dachshunds are people pleasers! It may take a little while for them to get it all figured out, but they really, really want to make you happy. So, let them know when you are happy!

Do Dachshunds bark a lot? Yes! They take their role a Protector of the Pack very seriously. They will bark at neighbors and cars and other dogs and leaves blowing across the yard...!

Do Dachshunds shed? Yes! I'd like to downplay it, but they do shed. Quality food and regular brushing can help minimize the shedding, but at our house, dog hair is a fashion accessory and, truth be told, a condiment! #theremightbedoghairinit

Are Dachshunds prone to health problems? Not really any more than any other breed. Of course, we have to help them take care of their backs by not letting them be overweight. Learn all you can about IVDD before choosing this breed.
